I have always said that soon consumers won’t have to waste their time mixing drinks, making their own, favorite concoctions because it seems beverage companies are doing it for us. Adding Clamato to your favorite beer was popular but now it’s premixed, bottled and sold. Even the long sold chocolate milk was once our creation, flavors added to your water and lime to your brew.
As well as premix there are a lot of stores that choose to take their in-house creations into the grocery channel with ready-to-drink assortments. Although this sounds like a great idea a lot try but most fail; they turn out to be pricey and destroy the whole idea of going to that respective store.
Now Starbucks has coffee locked down and a great track record with success so their new addition might just do well. Starbucks Refreshers Beverages is the latest addition to their product line distributed by PepsiCo. Much like their famous flavored coffee assortments Refreshers takes their in-house mixtures to market; 12fl oz. sparkling green coffee energy drink. These 3 flavors; Strawberry Lemonade, Orange Melon and Raspberry Pomegranate are chock full of ingredients; real fruit juice, b vitamins, ginseng and green coffee extract providing natural energy.

Starbucks Coffee Company has always presented nicely packaged products, great colors, branding and enticing flavors. Let’s dig a little deeper, even though the flavors and ingredients sound perfect the taste has to be on point as well. Refreshers joins Starbucks prowess in coffee with the hugely popular energy market with green coffee extract, non-roasted coffee extracting naturally occurring energy nutrients.
The flavor choices, in my mind, where perfectly picked, something for everyone and liked by most consumers. Now if your already a frequenter of Refreshers mixed at Starbucks locations then of course you will feel at home with the cans. Those that are new to this will experience great fruit aroma and a sparkling, light and flavorful beverage. I have had this general taste in other drinks but Starbucks has elevated expectations with a better overall craftsmanship. I do think though that this is one drink that has to grow on your taste buds, my first go at Strawberry Lemonade didn’t yield a thumbs-up.
Although sales in the market, from my prospective, have been slow and/or lackluster I believe Starbucks Refreshers is a good drink. Full fruit flavor with a natural, subtle tea or coffee aftertaste. The flavor spread lends availability for a wide consumer base and if your already a drinker of barista-mixed Refreshers these 3 will be an expedient extension of your interest. This won’t be an everyday choice but should do some good numbers at the register, let’s see Refreshers growth, if they do well you might just get more flavors. Starbucks Refreshers are available everywhere Pepsi is sold, get yours!
